After retiring from a four-decade career in business, Tom French set out to rediscover the passions of his youth through mountaineering, adventure travel, and cross-country ski racing. What began as a planned gap year stretched into three years of rebuilding strength, racing ski marathons, and climbing some of the world’s highest mountains, including two expeditions to Mount Everest. More than a tale of endurance, The Gap Years is a reflection on joy and the search for meaning later in life.
“A riveting personal adventure story.” —Kirkus Reviews
